Everything we do at Godstories.org
uses modern popular media to keep children and God close to each
other. From our picture books to our e-cards to our TV show to our
Godstory games, we foster this great loving bond between God and
children, and help children not to forget God as they grow susceptible
to the influences of our secular society.
What We Believe About Children
-That children have a natural capacity to love God, to think about
God and the 'big' questions (think theologically), and to find God
in creation and other people (in all things)
-That these natural capacities can be socialized out of children
by our secular society
What We Believe About Media
-That popular media (TV, film, music, web pages, etc.) can flood
children with images and stories that strongly shape their worldview
-That popular media, used irresponsibly, can have a profoundly negative
impact on a child's moral health, as well as shunt their natural
capacities and desires for God
-That the same media, used well, can have an equally positive impact
Our Theocentric Worldview: (God-centered)
-That God is at the center of every moment, every situation, every
place
Our Use of Media
-To flood children's imaginations with wonderful images and stories
that help them live within a God-centered worldview
-To respect children's ability to think theologically by using media
in an interactive way that engages children in a dialogue about
the 'big' questions
-To foster these natural capacities of children so they never outgrow
their spirituality of finding God in all things, their desire and
love for God, and their ability to think theologically |
